The Coalition has confirmed that player-versus-player (PvP) Modes will be playable during the upcoming Gears of War: E-Day open beta, alongside the previously announced Horde mode. The news was shared via the official Gears of War account on X (formerly Twitter).
Beta Schedule & Access
-
August 6–7 (Early Access): Open to players who pre-ordered the game. Focuses initially on Horde mode.
-
August 8–10 (Early Access PvP Integration): PvP Versus modes unlock for the remainder of the first weekend.
-
August 13–17 (Open Beta): Available to all players regardless of pre-order status. According to the official FAQ, this second wave will feature the same content as the early access period, including PvP Versus.
Players who participate in the test can earn unlockable customization options that will carry over to the full game at launch.
The inclusion of PvP gives fans their first hands-on look at the competitive suite, following recent early preview impressions of the revamped Horde mode.
What We Know So Far
The Coalition confirmed that the game is being built for Xbox Series X|S, PC (Microsoft Windows), PlayStation 5, with improved visuals, new mechanics, and environments designed around the storybook theme.
